Wombwell Round 4 – Cock of the North

James Kell racing at Wombwell Karting October 2020

I had a great weekend at Wombwell Karting, we had pancakes for breakfast and I played with my friends. I went on multiple track walks with my friends and I prepped the kart with my dad.. It was a very competitive weekend, we are all very fast now. We slept over in our moho (motorhome).

My favourite part of the weekend was driving in the wet on the Saturday because I was FAST and there wasn’t that many people on track.
My wet lap time was 42.5!

Heat 1, 6th to 3rd

Heat one started well with a good start. I was stuck behind another driver for too long – I am working on this. Once finally passed him, there was too much work to do because the others had driven away.

Heat 2, 8th to 5th

Got a good start this time and put in a couple of moves. Up to 5th, but disappointed I could have done better.

Heat 3, 3rd to 5th

A bad start dropped down to second from the back. after that I put in some good moves and in the end I got back up to 5th.

Final

I set off in fourth, behind Max Mason. Max is a bit of a genius in his starts. Being behind him gave me a good start and I was soon in second.

Max was flying, but I was doing my best to keep up. Finley overtook me, but I kept pushing. I was literally pushing Finley in places and lining him up to overtake. A back marker got in the way and I lost too much time. I then couldn’t make up the gap. I purpled it tho (I got the fastest lap – 38.52)

Bit of a difference from last years times –> https://www.jamesmartinkell.com/blog/wombwell-ikr-round-6/

Well done Max Mason on your first first in IAME – and the cock of the north. You really deserved it for that driving! Well done Finley Buck for 2nd…. I’m coming for you next time πŸ˜‰
